Sept. 14, 2011 (continued) Part II

We left the Lincoln Memorial and walked over to the Korean War Memorial...I have never seen this one before..Boy it was something....larger than lifesize soldier's scattered about in a field..some looking over their shoulders and had like rain gear on,etc. there is a wall that lines the outside of this field that has 2,000 faces on it of actual soldier's pictures from the war...very impressive...and the reflection of the soldier's in the field also show up on this wall....I don't know 40 or 50 of these larger than life statues....

then back around the reflecting pool, back to the other side to the Vietnam War Memorial...first time I saw this one I cried....about 25 years ago when my brother(Pat) was stationed here, he took us...there were momentos' everywhere, flowers, notes, pictures all along the wall..this time there were only 2 or 3 flower things.
I did look up David Allen Moore's name...I dated him in high-school-my brother's Pat and John were best friends of his....so sad!

Walked on to the National World War II Memorial...talk about huge and beautiful...it was in a circular formation with a huge pool and water fountain in the middle and on one end a monument that had "Atlantic" on it and the opposite side had "Pacific"on it. a reflecting pool on the outside that flowed over the sides..beautiful, just beautiful...

Walked up past the Washington Monument- closed since the earthquake...cracked it somewhere...couldn't see it from where we were..they have the gate blocked off.

Exhausted, we walked back to the boat....got on board, took our walking shoes off and rested our "dawgs"...they were barking at us....ouch!

Got cleaned up then Mike Doles, friend that lives in Manassas, Va came by and he took us to Phillips for dinner right here on the waterfront, nice dinner, then we walked back to the boat and visited a while...he had to leave and go home as he is still a working boy....he got stuck in traffic coming over ugh! hope not so going home...
Great time.....Great Day! Gonna rest tomorrow and do housework....boatwork..
