Thurs. spent the day trying to straighten out my credit card mess...then make arrangements to get a rental car from Enterprise as we decided, this was a nice marina and they did winter storage...so Ken made arrangements to get the boat pulled on Friday-Sept. 30 and I made arrangements to get a car....so we started packing things and cleaning....so we could maybe leave on Sat....
Friday... Enterprise brought me a big ole Suburban and I had to take the driver back.
Sign the contract, etc.then take the car back to the marina and start loading it..About 1 PM we pumped out and I took the car to the pull out area and Ken drove the boat over....it got pulled....Ken winterized it..and we almost finished when the rains came pouring down and the lightening all around...so instead of us finishing, we had a little bit left to do on Sat....so now we got the GPS out and found a motel for the night...actually the first one was nasty so we had to go another 5 or 6 miles to find another one and it wasn't that much better...anyhow...spent the night..and we were tired...busy day....
Oct. 1, 2011 our 35th Anniversary
We didn't spend it like we would have wanted to, but all is ok...we still had a great day....we went to the marina...ate a little breakfast...they have a little continental breakfast on Sat. mornings and invited us....then after that we went to finish the boat...got there and one of the stands that holds the boat up blew over in the storm the night before...Ken went to the office and the manager came out...put it back plus 2 other ones...we now have 8 stands holding the boat up until they can move it to more stable area....we wanted to get on the road - so the manager said they would move the boat and cover it -no extra charge...we had the cover and rope..they just needed to put it on...so instead of waiting 2 more hours, we left the boat in good hands and got on the road about 10:30 a.m.
We left and headed to Verona....we stopped for gas along the way and ate hamburgers at Hardee's then drove the rest of the way into Verona...getting in around 9:30 PM after 11 hrs on the road in and out of nasty rain....end of the road for now...
God has blessed us in ways we can't even begin to imagine....what a journey we have had...safe and always a place to dock safely....now we will put away everything "Boat" and get into "Home" mode until next Spring....
God keep all of you safe until we meet again - next year!
Fondly,
Ken & Mary
